I found it so engrossing that I literally read it cover to cover in one sitting and was blown away. His subsequent novel, Beach Music was also excellent. And yeah, the movie sucked. The shrink having an affair in NY was no more than 10% of the book and served mainly as a framework for telling the stories of the kids growing up on the island. The movie devoted 99% of screen time to barbara streisand getting laid and dealt with the heart of the book in about 3 minutes worth of flash backs. feh<br/><br/>And hello, golfwidow. You can basically get almost any book ever printed and if you browse and request online staff will locate and gather them for you. I always have lots and lots of stuff to read around the house and find I don't miss owning/buying books at all. I have become a big cheerleader for libraries since I started working here.
