It was a nice weekend. Sunny and hot, but not as horribly hot as it got last week. I was off Saturday, and Ron and I went and picked up Staci. We had lunch at Pannera Bread (and oogled at but did not indulge in any of the pastries) then went to the library and checked out some videos, stopped at Safeway to pick up a few things then came home to hang out and watch movies. We watched Cool World and Network. I made a jambalaya, but without pepper and hot spices and with a kind of etouffee base (post surgery Staci can’t handle spicy and she loves etouffee). There was watermelon and almond poppy cake for dessert and we sent her back to Kathi’s with a big doggy bag. A very nice day off.
An easy day at work. Returns were heavy going in, but not many patrons and no hassles. The most interesting check in today was not a book or even a DVD. It was a museum pass. The Art Access Pass, which is a wallet sized card in a DVD box, is good for free admission for up to four people at the Tacoma Art Museum. We are supposed to get together with Staci again Tuesday (my next day off) and will offer to take her to the museum if she is up to it. Hope this was a good weekend in your world too.

This reminds me–are you aware of Alec Clayton, who is a Tacoma local artist and a critic for the local newspaper?

not familiar with Alec Clayton, sorry. I more often read the Seattle paper than the Tacoma one.

Too bad. He’s a nice guy. He and his wife are involved with PFLAG and Gabi does a lot of work with Safe Schools. Their son Bill committed suicide (at age 16) following a gay bashing incident some 10 or so years ago.
