Pack your bags and get ready for the ride of your life.  The Space Tourist’s Handbook  tells you all you need to know about vacationing in space.  Written by Eric Anderson, CEO of Space Adventures, this $16 book is part brochure for the range of trips offered by Space Adventures, part introduction to various aspects of space travel and 100% All out of this world.

Starting at under $10,000 for a "zero gravity" flight to over $1 million for a trip to the International Space Station that includes a spacewalk, Space Adventures purports to be "your travel agency for space".  To be perfectly honest,  all of the adventures described in this book are well beyond my (and most people’s) means, but The Space Tourist’s Handbook may well be "Armchair Travel" at its best.  I was especially amused by the bits about passing the psychological screening (Don’t Fidget!) and the matter-of-fact advice for handling various mishaps (such as fire upon launching) made for highly amusing reading.

Whether you seriously hope some day to travel to space or, like me, are merely window shopping, The Space Tourist’s Handbook is a Must Read.   Recommended.

Sounds kind of interesting. Unfortunately, I can’t afford any trips to space anytime soon. So, I guess I might read about it. I’ll be like Isaac Asimov who refused to fly in airplanes and always had someone drive him places.
