Michael Rex is one of my favorite children’s book authors.   And his 2008 release Goodnight Goon–A Petrifying Parody is something delightfully different.    This is a very cute parody of Margaret Wise Brown’s classic children’s book Goodnight Moon.    I have actually seen several different parodies of Brown’s 1947 standard bearer, and this particular one is the perfect book for Halloween.    Each page of Goodnight Goon says ‘goodnight’ to each of the objects and things in the brightly colored buy oddly dark-pallet-ted room.     Rex’s illustrations are as always superb and Goodnight Goon has  a near perfect blending of the funny and frightening.   Goodnight Goon–A Petrifying Parody is Highly Recommended.    Happy Halloween from Ron and Alan,  your Libdrone team.
