Teaser Tuesday: Start-Up Nation by Dan Senor and Saul Singer
It’s time once again for Teaser Tuesday and this week I have another great book, this one suggested by my friend Tony, whose website Fried Eggs is scrambling some of the most popular features of other social networks into a tasty new treat. Check it out. Dan Senor and Saul Singer have collaborated on Start-Up Nation– The Story Of Israel’s Economic Miracle. It seems to me that here in the United States we hear about Israel fairly frequently, though almost always in terms of the Palestinian conflict and the complex politics of the Middle East region. It turns out there is an interesting and compelling story about Israeli business and Senor and Singer have written a great book about it. I am only about a third of the way into the book, but so far I am impressed. Here then are the Teaser Tuesday rules, courtesy of Puss Reboots:
- Grab your current read

- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!(make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“One such mashup-based company is Aespironics, which has developed an inhaler the size and shape of a credit card that includes a breath-powered wind turbine. The problem with many inhalers is that they are tricky and expensive to manufacture.”
“Mixing missiles and pills, jets and inhalers may seem strange enough, but the true mashup champion may be Yossi Gross. Born in Israel and trained in aeronautical engineering at the Technion, Gross worked at Israel Aircraft Industries for seven years before leaving to pursue more entrepreneurial endeavors.”
Both of these quotes are from page 191 of Start-Up Nation. If these quotes have intrigued you, as always you can click on the book cover image to request a copy from Your local library of buy now from Amazon $17.81.
