Water: The Epic Struggle For Wealth, Power and Civilization

Today,  October 15, 2010  BloggersUnite  for Water Aid: A Burden Of Thirst.    Bloggers all over the world will be writing today about water,  which many experts believe is the next critical resource shortage humanity will have to deal with.    While those of us in the United States may take the clean water available from every faucet rather for granted  (although troublesomely we Americans drink a huge amount of bottled water),  lack of access to fresh drinking water is a very serious problem in many parts of the world.

And rather than go on and on about this problem,  I decided instead to do something about it.   If, that is,  you dear reader will do something to.    If you have a blog,  put up a post about Water today and leave a comment on this post with a link to your post.     For every one of you who does that,   I will donate one dollar to the BloggersUnite fund in support of clean drinking water for children.    I have a maximum of $66 to donate.   So please pass this offer along to anyone you know who may be writing about water today.    All you have to do, besides write a post is leave your link in the comments and you will have raised a dollar to help provide clean water to someone who needs it.

If you’d like to learn more about water and its role in history,  up to and including the coming shortages,   I highly recommend Water:  The Epic Struggle For Wealth, Power And Civilization by Steven Solomon.    Solomon is a seasoned reporter who has written a compelling book that is equal parts history, environmental science and call to action.     If you want to understand water,  Solomon’s Water is Highly Recommended.
