Suggestions and Guest Reviews
From time to time I receive inquiries from authors and readers suggesting particular books for review. I welcome your comments and suggestions and I do seriously consider all suggested books. I do, however, have some very specific requirements for books to be featured on this site.
One of my most important purposes in creating and maintaining this site is to promote reading and the use of public libraries and I only feature books that are generally available from public libraries. Unfortunately, this means that I am unable to accept many of the titles that are suggested. I often suggest to my writer friends that if they can possibly afford it, to send a copy of their book to the collection management librarian or department at the largest library systems in their geographic area. The book should be sent along with a letter introducing the author and the work and specifying that the copy is being provided for review only and may not be added to the library’s collection. While libraries do not typically purchase large numbers of any particular title, getting your book onto library shelves can result in the book being read by many people, building an audience and a following that may be particularly helpful when it comes time to sell your next book.
Another question that comes up fairly frequently is the question of guest reviews. My answer: YES! Well, make that a qualified yes. To be accepted the guest review should be well written, approximately three to five paragraphs and contain no more than three links of the guest reviewers choosing. To be considered the book being reviewed must be generally available from public libraries (check Worldcat) and a book cover image must be available. To be consistent with other reviews on the site, I will link the book cover image to the book’s Worldcat page and the book’s title to my Powell’s and Amazon associate sales pages for that title.
As a matter of policy, I routinely accept review copies of books from authors, publishers and publicists. Please e-mail me for more specific information about this.
Thank you for your interest in The Thin Red Line. If you have any questions or would like to suggest a title or submit a guest review for consideration please email drone AT libdrone DOT info.
